Misson
1. Organizing professional education and teaching to produce communication studies graduates who have ethics, high integrity, mastery of science and technology, dynamic and flexible in meeting global challenges.
2. Carrying out research and development of science and technology in the field of communication in encouraging the creation of a global order of communication.
3. Organizing community service based on the application of science and technology to support the creation of community welfare.
4. Collaborate with government and private institutions or agencies both domestic and abroad.
History
The information age accompanied by advances in technology, information, and changes in people’s behavior demand a need for a dynamic world of communication. To answer these request, the Department of Communication Studies under the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Lampung University is present.
Since its inception on 18 March 1997 with the establishment decree number of Director General of Higher Education No.49/DIKTI/Kep/1997, the Department of Communication Studies at Lampung University has been opening doors of opportunity for people with curiosity, drive, and vision to shape a better world. As an affiliate of the Faculty of Social and Political Science, it was the third program of the faculty at the time.
In accordance with the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Communication Studies Department is trusted to oversee three study programs, namely the Master of Communication Studies program, the Bachelor of Communication Studies program, the Public Relations Undergraduate study program, and the Library Undergraduate study program.
Now the Department of Communication Studies have 27 personnel consisting of lecturers with professorial, doctoral, and master’s degrees backgrounds, all lecturers in the Department of Communication Science are committed to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in order to improve the quality of education in the department. This is demonstrated by the Department of Communication Studies’ accreditation quality, which has received an “A” accreditation for the last ten years.
Fast forward to the present day, the Department of Communication Studies have won various awards such as Indonesia Best of Best School of Communication in the category State University with A Accreditation by Mix Marcomm magazine for 2 consecutive years and has successfully graduated more than 1000 students from various regions in Indonesia, who are now widely working in the fields of public relations, journalism, academics, politicians, and entrepreneurs. Now, we continue to strive to provide a high-quality education and become the best choice for a place to pursue higher education in communication studies.
